KATHY DAVID TO SPEAK AT CONFERENCE AT UNIVERSITY OF SAN DIEGO

Expanding Your Horizons of San Diego Event on March 4, 2017

SAN MARCOS, CALIFORNIA – Kathy David, an award-winning entrepreneur, business owner, and IT expert, will speak at the Expanding Your Horizons (EYH) of San Diego 2017 Conference to discuss and answer these critical questions about cyber security:

  1. Why is cyber security considered a “hot topic”?
  2. How does cyber security affect businesses and “average” households?
  3. What might we expect of cyber security field in the future?
  4. Why are there so few women in IT and cyber security, and most importantly,
  5. How can we change that?

“While at the conference, I hope to provide valuable insight about cyber security and how it affects every person. The latest technological innovations have made life easier and more entertaining for many individuals, but with everything connected to the “Internet of Things” (IoT), there are more risks that we all need to be aware of and take precautions to ensure our personal privacy and safety,” said David.

The Expanding Your Horizon San Diego workshop is aimed to motivate and inspire girls in grades 6-10 to recognize their potential and pursue opportunities in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics fields (STEM).

The EYH program acknowledges that society needs positive, confident, and experienced women mentors to guide the young females of today into STEM careers of the future.

“Women can and will have a significant impact on the success of the technology industry now and in the years ahead.  While the statistics show that only 38 percent of women in the US work in science, engineering, and technology, according to the Center for Talent Innovation, there are now many organizations like Expanding Your Horizon San Diego that help to provide the information, education, and resources to help girls and women succeed. I believe women in technology can bring the best diverse talent and problem-solving skills to the table,” said David.
